Summer is just around the corner! And if you took our advice a couple weeks ago and are planning a road trip, you’re bound to stop at a gas station or two.

So how do you stay on your healthy eating plan when you’re confronted with rotating hot dogs and nachos galore?

We’ve compiled a few healthy snacks you can find at most gas stations to keep you going until your next meal!

Fresh fruit – Many gas stations stock fresh fruit (check near the register). It’s healthy AND portable!

Get the Most out of your Tires

Tires can get expensive, especially since you need FOUR to make your car run! So how can you get the most life out of them? We’ve got some tips:

  • Rotate them. Twice a year (or every 6,000 miles), you should take your car into a reputable mechanic to have the tires rotated. This should generally be done diagonally – the front right tire should move to the rear left, and the front left to the rear right, but a good mechanic will know the best rotation for your car. Rotating your tires ensures they’ll wear evenly, giving them a longer life.
  • Give ‘em air. Ensuring your tires are properly inflated is key to long tire life. Spend a couple bucks on a tire gauge, and check the pressure every other time you get gas. If your tire pressure is low, inflate them to the proper amount (check your owner’s manual). Improperly inflated tires don’t wear well, and they can also decrease your gas mileage. Continue reading →
